Jets' Bye Week Report

In the aftermath of one of the most devastating storms to hit the tri-state area, Green and White Report would like to keep the families affected by hurricane Sandy in our thoughts and prayers.

With the Jets in the midst of their bye week, Rex Ryan and crew are using the time off to nurse injuries and recuperate before preparing to face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10. At the midway point of the year, Gang Green is in the cellar of the AFC East with a 3-5 record and mired in a two-game losing streak.

Uncertainty surrounds Mark Sanchez's future as the team's starting quarterback and despite completing a blockbuster trade for Tim Tebow in the offseason, the coaching staff has failed to fully utilize the talents of the former Heisman Trophy winner. Owner Woody Johnson has lobbied for Tebow to claim the starting role while Ryan is standing by his hand-picked signal-caller. A discord between ownership, the front office and the coaching staff has had a ripple effect on the organization causing unrest with the Jets' fan base.

New York is merely a few losses away from being out of postseason contention for the second consecutive year, which would almost assuredly result in a change at quarterback and even more likely a switch at general manager. The Jets' rookie draft class has been somewhat of a disappointment with their top draft choice Quinton Coples not making a significant impact, while wide receiver Stephen Hill has been plagued by injuries and dropped passes. New York didn't make any moves prior to Thursday's trade deadline, leaving a reeling Jets' squad searching for answers.

With almost two weeks to collect themselves, it's truly sink or swim time for Sanchez, Ryan and the rest of the 2012 Jets.
