The New York Jets have been a Jekyll and Hyde team so far in 2012. While the Green and White sit at a dismal record of 3-5, they've shown flashes of brilliance and promise despite a disappointing campaign.

How good are the New York Jets heading into their bye week? The Jets are 11-13 since the beginning of last season and have lost 8 of their last 11 games. Compared to 2009 and 2010, I think it's safe to say that they have regressed.

When Rex Ryan talks up his team or a particular player, do you believe him? Many Jets' fans used to, but he’s losing all credibility in that department. When the Jets say they plan to do A and then end up doing Z, it leaves fans and the media scratching their heads and searching for answers.

For example, Rex said in his press conference just last week that they are going to see how they could use Tim Tebow more effectively. Let’s just say I’m not holding my breath on that one.

So why are the Jets so bad this year? One word: Inconsistency

Inconsistent quaterback play

Inconsistent offensive Line Play

Inconsistent running game

Inconsistent wide receivers

They are all interconnected and might as well add special teams to that list as well.

“We thought we’re getting closer and closer,” Ryan said. “We thought we were getting better as a football team. And then we had a big step back yesterday.”

This notion that you take out one player and replace him with another and expect magic to happen is absurd, but don’t tell that to the Tim Tebow Supporters.

“I think it’s kind of difficult especially when you’re dealing with an offense that hasn’t been doing much at any position — offensive line, running back, wide receiver, tight end,” Jets center Nick Mangold said when asked about the crowd’s chanting Sunday for Tim Tebow. “You can’t just plug somebody in and all the sudden it’s going to be a magic formula and everything is going to be right. We have to correct all the issues that we have throughout the whole offense.” Via NYTimes
