The New England Patriots
announced the signing of RB/KR Leon
Washington
Thursday afternoon. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Washington and Bills receiver Donald
Jones were in Foxboro for a visit
Thursday. The team opted to sign Washington before he could
leave town.
Washington was originally selected by the New York Jets in
the fourth round (117th pick overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.
He was traded to the Seattle
Seahawks in April 2010.
Seattle released him March 12, 2013.
The 5-foot-8, 203-pound Florida
State product has played in
103 games (14 starts). He has recorded 473 rushes
for 2,213 yards and 16 touchdowns. Additionally, Washington
has 146 receptions for 1,127 yards and two
touchdowns, 168 punt returns for 1,668 yards and 244 kickoff
returns for 6,315 yards and eight touchdowns.
