The Bengals have needs at linebacker and safety and lots of picks to load up.

Cincinnati Bengals
2013 draft picks:
1st round (21), 2(37, 53), 3(84), 4(118), 5(156), 6(190, 197), 7 (240, 251)

The Bengals are living by their philosophy of building through the draft. This season they have 10 picks, including four of the top 84.

Once again Cincinnati was thrifty this off-season. Their one big fish they caught was James Harrison. We will see what’s left in the tank for this defensive standout that had a brilliant career with the Steelers.

They are still negotiating with right tackle Andre Smith and they failed to toss money around in free agency. With that in mind there has been some playing turnover. They have acquired quarterbacks Josh Johnson and John Skelton and offensive guard Mike Pollak. The Bengals have lost quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, fullback Brian Leonard, defensive tackle Pat Sims, linebackers Dan Skuta and Manny Lawson, cornerback Jason Allen and kicker Josh Brown.

Draft Needs
1) Linebacker
If with the addition of Harrison it’s just a short term solution. The Bengals must upgrade and Alec Ogletree seems like a good pick with their first selection. Of course they could elect to wait and go after players in rounds two through four. Kiko Alonso and Jon Bostic are guys to watch there because it’s doubtful that Manti Te’o or Kevin Minter slide to their second pick.

2) Safety
The Bengals would love Kenny Vacarro to slide to them at the 21st spot. If not they should have their choice between Eric Reid, Matt Elam, and Jonathan Cyrprien. Cincy could trade back and out of spot if they could find a partner and go for this position later.

3) Running Back
I see the Bengals going this route in the second or even the third round. Heck, they could choose to draft Eddie Lacy with their first pick. If not, running backs like Le’Veon Bell with the second or Christine Michael, Stepfan Taylor or Joseph Randle sometime in the third. With four picks between selections 37[overall] and 118 they will get a good one.

4) Right Tackle
If Smith is squared away this could be a non-issue but depth would be nice. There’s no question that Cincinnati could have a chance to draft D.J. Fluker or Menelik Watson with their first pick. They could also have a shot at getting good, quality tackles in rounds two, three or four.

5) Cornerback
The Bengals could use another corner, if nothing else than to provide some depth. It’s a deep year and they have a lot of picks.
