Led by head football coach Ed Dunn and assistant coaches Kelly Cottle and Kevin Norris, the Martin Luther King (Phil.) Cougars took home their first-ever Public League football title last year. But that was then, this is now. There are a lot of fresh faces this season and Hell Week will put these new players to the test. Many of them come from bad neighborhoods and have personal family problems, and this week they get to leave all their challenges behind and focus on being football players. But as the name Hell Week implies, things get pretty rough.
Hell Week’s camera crew captures all of the drama on and off the field. There are battles over which players will lead the team, and a big question mark if quiet sophomore, Nasir Boykin, can step it up and become the vocal quarterback the Cougars needs him to be.
Hell Week is a right of passage for these boys. As Coach Dunn puts it, “It is the birth of our football season.” Can these boys endure the hardest week in all of sport? Welcome back to Hell Week.
