Patriots NFL Draft Coverage
Q & A with Tony Pauline, NFL Draft Expert
A few weeks back, we spoke with Tony about having him answer some questions
Patriots fans have regarding the upcoming draft, and prospects the Pats may
be considering. Tony agreed once he was done covering
the Senior Bowl, to swing by for a few minutes to reply to your questions.
Tony, and Lane Adkins, are two of Scouts many football experts who deliver
some of the reports and analysis you see on all of the Scout sites, from College
to the NFL. Lane provides a bevy of information during the season, and is notably
inundated with combine, free agency and draft coverage this time of the year.
We're pleased to welcome Tony to the Patriots Site, and hope to have him swing
by on a semi-regular basis. For those of you who are insiders... submit your
questions, either on the boards (Insiders Lounge) or via e-mail and we'll have
Tony, Lane or one of the other Football experts get you an answer.
One of the things that first drew me to the Insiders Network (Scout), was seeing
questions answered by guys who were "in the know." Not reporters,
not local media, but actual Scouts and Football experts. Guys who know what
they're talking about. The Network has teams of scouts who cover the recruits
for college and the NFL, and you can learn more about them here: NFL

Here's a sampling of Questions our members asked Tony:
| Morpheus11: |
Considering where the Patriots are picking each round, what
players in the defensive backfield do you think (or know) that they will
be looking at as regards the draft? |
| TFYDraft |
Definitely a corner- they like Justin Miller- whether he is available
or not is a different story.
|
| bmw2000 |
do you see them drafting a WR with DB skills |
| TFYDraft |
No- they will draft best athlete/player and prospects with
high IQ/Wond scores- those types of players usually make an easier adjustment
to another position. |
| BledsoeFan01
|
would you say guard or right tackle is more of a need for
this team? |
| TFYDraft |
Tackle |
| BledsoeFan01 |
between Carlos Rogers, Corey Webster, Justin Miller, McFadden,
and Browner who would fit best with the Pats and be most likely there at
32? |
| TFYDraft |
Webster is sliding deep into the first day. Browner is a one-dimensional
press corner. Rogers will be gone and 32 is early for McFadden. Miller may
slide. |
| BledsoeFan01 |
also, what differentiates David Pollack from Bill Swancutt? |
| TFYDraft |
Pollack is a much better athlete, has much better speed and
can be used in a variety of ways compared to Swancutt. |

Who do you see being a diamond-in-the-rough
that the Patriots may look at in the upcoming draft? |
| TFYDraft |
Jason Anderson /WR / Wake. Dom Foxworth /CB/ Maryland. |
| DestinationSuperBowl
|
Do you see the Pats swinging a trade to try and move up in
the draft (either in the 1st or 2nd round) or do you think they'll be content
to stay where they are? |
| TFYDraft |
Since overall it is a weak draft they are probably prone to
standing "Pat"!! |
| SportsFanForLife |
With the possibility of Law being traded, what do you see
him being traded for? A second rounder? Something else? Do you think we'll
trade up and draft a Marlin Jackson or Corey Webster? |
| TFYDraft |
At most a mid-to-late second as it is a tough situation for
the Pats. Webster is dropping as is Jackson. Justin Miller is a good fit. |
