Brady Replaced By Green In Pro Bowl

Wire reports indicate that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green will take over the duties of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

The AP is reporting that Trent Green will take Tom Brady's place on the AFC roster in the Pro Bowl this February. The report cites Brady will not play due to an unspecified injury.

Green was pleased with the decision, which the Chiefs reportedly received from the league on Friday.

"It obviously means a lot any time you are selected for the Pro Bowl," Green said in an article on the Chiefs website. "I'm excited about the opportunity to go over there and represent the Kansas City Chiefs and the AFC."

It will be Green's second trip to the Pro Bowl.

Brady has been hampered by a nagging shoulder injury for the better part of two seasons. Listed on the team's weekly injury report as probable, Brady appeared to be unaffected by the injury on gamedays.

The Patriots last game was in the AFC Divisional Playoffs against the Denver Broncos at Invesco Field. The Broncos defeated the defending Super Bowl champions 27-13 on January 14, 2006.

Brady's absence leaves defensive lineman Richard Seymour as the only Patriot who will be in attendence.

Green is the sixth Kansas City Chiefs player to be named to this year's Pro Bowl. The others are offensive tackle Willie Roaf who backed out due to injury, guards Will Shields and Brian Waters, perennial all-pro tight end Tony Gonzalez, and running back Larry Johnson.
