The New England Patriots have lost another free agent today. Wide receiver David Givens agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday. Givens will reportedly receive a five-year, $24 million deal with an $8 million signing bonus.

Good luck David.

That's what Patriots fans have been saying since free agent WR David Givens decided to ask for a reported five-year $25 million deal from the Houston Texans during the opening weekend of free agency. It's not that anyone doubted he deserved a raise, it's that he wasn't likely to get it from New England.

Givens has agreed to a five-year $24 million deal with the Titans who were hot on his trail when Givens left Houston without a deal. The agreement calls for an $8 million signing bonus. The deal will be announced in Tennessee at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Givens reportedly stayed the night in Tennessee to look around the city while his agent continued negotiations with Floyd Reese the Titans GM. After turning down an $18 million overture from the Texans, Givens was rewarded for his patience.

"David is a proven winner that will provide experience to a young receiving corps," said Reese. "He has a great upside being only 25-years old and he will add another dimension to our receiver group."

The 6-foot, 215-pound receiver will get an opportunity to compete with Drew Bennett for the number one duties. Tennessee's QB Steve McNair will have Bennett, Givens and Tyrone Calico as his targets downfield.

"My opportunities here to flourish were a little bit better," Givens said.

While at New England, Givens managed 158 receptions for 2,214 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has played in 53 games with 27 starts over his four-year career. The former Notre Dame product appeared in two Super Bowls for the Patriots.
