Scott, 23, was originally selected by the team in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft (95th overall). The third-year pro has appeared in only five games over the last two seasons due to injuries.
In 2004 the 5-foot-10, 205-pound defensive back injured his knee and missed the entire season after being placed on injured reserve in late August. In 2005, he played in five games before being injured again. He was placed on injured reserve for the second time in two years on October 19, 2005.
When healthy, Scott was expected to compete for a starting role with the defense. His absence forced the team to find healthy players to fill out the roster. Scott will need to prove he is fully recovered and then should get the opportunity compete for a starting role again in 2006.
The team has five other safeties on the roster including , Rodney Harrison, James Sanders, Eugene Wilson, Artrell Hawkins and Raymond Ventrone. Both Hawkins and Wilson have experience at cornerback and may be asked to change positions depending on personnel packages.
Scott has played in five regular season games, and has managed 19 tackles in those appearances.
