FOXBORO, Mass. – The Patriots held an evening practice under the lights Monday inside Gillette Stadium, which was open to the media, but not the public. However there were some patrons watching practice in the stands who apparently were attending functions at the facility.

Camp Quick Hits: Pats back from Florida for Monday night lights practice

Evening practice inside Gillette Stadium

Conditions: The Pats are back from the Florida heat and into some refreshing New England summer weather, albeit with a little drizzle at times.

Missing: Kyle Brady, Ben Watson and Asante Samuel.

Sightings: Randy Moss walking through calisthenics in a gray sweat suit during the first half-hour of practice.

Tempo: Upbeat and energetic.

Red removed
Junior Seau was the first to appear on the field at Gillette Stadium at 6:45 p.m., and for the first time all camp was NOT wearing a red jersey, signaling no contact. Wearing his trademark hat turned backwards, Junior was sporting a blue jersey like his defensive teammates, and even deflected a Matt Cassel pass, which he caught out of the air, and strolled into the end zone. Running back Sammie Morris also got rid of his red jersey, and was wearing the offensive white jersey. Laurence Maroney and Eric Alexander were the last two players wearing red, except of course for the three quarterbacks.

Seldom seen but still in sight Some seldom seen players who were involved in action were Mike Elgin playing center, running back Quinton Smith catching a pass from Tom Brady, Boston College product Larry Anam seeing some work at cornerback, and second pick Kareem Brown doing drills.

New additions in the house
New cornerback Dante Wesley blocked a Danny Baugher punt and Marcellus Rivers saw some work at tight end. Starting punter Josh Miller also had a punt blocked.

Play of the night
Receiver Jabar Gaffney continues to be perhaps the most impressive player in camp, and he punctuated his go-to-guy status tonight with a fabulous reception of a 50-yard bomb from Brady.

Play of the night II
Rookie cornerback Mike Richardson from Notre Dame made a leaping interception of a long downfield throw, cradling the ball on the way down as he landed on his back. Fellow cornerback Randall Gay also made a nice deflection of a pass.
