Marcellus Rivers is in his fourth tour this season with the Patriots. Originally signed by the Patriots on Augusts 8, 2007, the Oklahoma State product participated in New England's training camp taking snaps for the injured tight ends Kyle Brady and David Thomas Rivers was released on September 1st as part of the team's final round of roster cuts. Although he was resigned two days later, he was unable to secure a roster spot as the team signed other players to the active roster, releasing Rivers to make space. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end was last released by the team on October 6th.
Chad Brown was signed by the Patriots during the offseason. He spent training camp with the Patriots before being released as part of the the teams' final round of roster cuts on September 1, 2007. He was re-signed to the active roster 11 days later and participated in one game. Brown is a 15-year veteran defender who was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 1993 NFL Draft out of Colorado. He also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks before joining New England the first time in 2005.
