Patriots Place Morris On Injured Reserve

FOXBORO, Mass -- The New England Patriots have decided to place running back Sammy Morris on the injured reserve list today, effectively ending his season.

The New England Patriots placed running back Sammy Morris on season-ending injured reserve today. The 6-foot, 220-pound veteran’s season ended due to a chest injury suffered in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Morris is still the leading rusher for New England. In six games (2 starts) for the Patriots, Morris gained 384 yards on 85 carries (4.5 avg.) with three touchdowns. Morris also caught 6 receptions for 35 yards and was a special teams contributor.

Morris joined the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on March 3, 2007 as one of the Patriots prized free agents.

The Patriots have four running backs remaining on the roster without Morris. Kevin Faulk, Laurence Maroney, Heath Evans and Kyle Eckel
