The Patriot announced multiple roster moves Tuesday afternoon. 15-year veteran wide receiver Troy Brown was activated off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Brown, 36, leads the Patriots in career receptions with 557.
Brown is the seventh receiver on the active roster. The others include: Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker, Kelley Washington, Jabar Gaffney and Chad Jackson. Moss, Stallworth, Welker and Washington are all newcomers to the patriots this season.
To make room for Troy Brown, the Patriots released rookie defensive lineman Kareem Brown. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Miami product was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Brown was inactive in each of the Patriots 11 regular season games.
In addition, The Patriots placed veteran linebacker Rosevelt Colvin on the Reserve / Injured list, bringing his season to a close. Colvin was hurt in the third quarter of the Patriots 31-28 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. With his sack of quarterback A.J. Feeley Sunday, Colvin improved his season total to 4, second only to Mike Vrabel's 9.5.
To fill the void left by Colvin at outside linebacker, the Patriots signed veteran free agent Chad Brown. Brown was with the Patriots through the first part of the season, released October 10, 2007 to make room for tight end Marcellus Rivers.
