The New England Patriots have lost another free agent today. Published reports indicate cornerback Randall Gay has agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints.

Free agent DB Randall Gay has found a new home according to published reports. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that the former Patriots cornerback has agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints on a four-year deal worth up to $17.6 million, according to a league source. Gay will be paid roughly $6.7 million over the first two seasons and with incentives could be worth as much as $9 million. Gay will receive $3.75 million signing bonus and earn a $6.4 million in guarantees.

A Louisiana native, Gay played his college ball at LSU, and returns to his home state. He was part of LSU's National championship under Nick Saban. In 39 games had 14 starts. His finished his career in New England with 86 tackles (74 solo), 12 passes defended and five interceptions.

The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss spoke with Gay's agent Albert Elias after the Saints agreed to terms.

"New Orleans was our first choice other than New England," said Elias. "If we could not stay there and that became apparent yesterday that it was not going to work out, then New Orleans was our first choice. They showed the most interest in him and it was the best situation for him."

The Patriots were one of six teams pursuing Gay, but the Saints offer was too much to pass up. The other teams interested in the 5th-year defender were the Saints, Buccaneers, Seahawks, Jets and the Lions.

Gay is the second Patriots defensive back to sign on with another team. Cornerback Asante Samuel agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. Eugene Wilson is visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend. Wilson is also expected to sign a deal with another team.
