FOXBORO -- The New England Patriots signed free agent offensive lineman Oliver Ross on Monday. The Iowa State product joins the Patriots after spending the past three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. Ross is projected to compete for playing time at the right tackle position.Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli continue to build depth into the New England Patriots' roster by adding another veteran player who can start if the injury bug hits. Free agent tackle Oliver Ross joined the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent yesterday. The 6-foot-4, 327-pound lineman brings starting experience from his playing days with the Cardinals and the Steelers.

Ross is experienced at multiple positions on the offensive line, including guard. He projects as a right tackle, a position currently held by fourth year pro Nick Kaczur.
In 89 career games Ross has 53 starts. The Patriots are the fifth team for the 33-year-old. His other stops were the Dallas Cowboys (1998), Philadelphia Eagles (1999), Pittsburgh Steelers (2000-2004) and Cardinals (2005-2007).
The Patriots currently have four tackles (Matt Light, Ryan O'Callaghan, Wesley Britt and Kaczur) and four guards (Logan Mankins, Stephen Neal, Billy Yates and Russ Hochstein) on the roster. The team also has a pair of reserve linemen in Dan Connolly and Jimmy Martin.
