The shocking news that Danny Pires passed away spread across Patriot Nation like a wildfire on Wednesday. The Patriots beat writer was 52. He will be sorely missed by friends, family and those who were lucky enough to call him an acquaintance. Services for Pires are Monday June 30th.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the loss of a great person, a friend and a colleague. Dan Pires, Patriots beat writer for the New Bedford Standard Times, passed away at the age of 52.

Pires was a friendly face around Foxborough, always offering words of encouragement or a friendly jest to those who worked on the beat with him. Mentor to some, friend to other, Pires was the type of person who brought out the best in people.

From all of us at Patriots Insider, we offer our sincerest condolences to his family and friends at this time of great sorrow. We knew Dan, and were lucky enough to call him friend. We will miss him greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Danny. God Bless.
