The Patriots added 10-year veteran center Mike Flynn on Thursday. The 6-foot-3,
305-pound offensive lineman has played center and guard for the Baltimore Ravens
(1998-2007). After spending his rookie season on and off practice squads, Flynn
settled in with Baltimore to eventually become their starting center. He has
appeared in 133 games during his career with 115 starts.
Flynn's addition to the Patriots offensive line, could be an indication that
Billy Yates (injured last week against the Buccaneers), Stephen Neal (PUP),
and Russ Hochstein (Missing over a week of practice), are not healthy enough
to participate in the team's coming preseason games.
Flynn was originally signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted rookie
out of Maine on April 25, 1997. After spending the 97 season with the Jaguars,
he returned to Baltimore for the 1998 season. The Ravens released Flynn on February
28, 2008.
To make room for Flynn on the roster, the Patriots released cornerback Ade Jimoh. The 28-year old has played for the Washington Redskins (2003-06) and
Chicago Bears (2007). Jimoh was signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free
agent on August 13, 2008.
