Patriots Lose Another Linebacker

The New England Patriots lost another one of their linebackers for the season when outside linebacker Pierre woods was placed on injured reserve with a jaw injury. Offensive lineman Dan Connolly was promoted from the practice squad to take Woods' spot on the roster.

The New England Patriots officially placed linebacker Pierre Woods on the reserve/injured list Saturday with a jaw injury. Woods will miss the rest of the season making him the fifth Patriots linebacker to be sidelined for the season due to injury. Woods will join fellow linebackers Adalius Thomas, Eric Alexander, Shawn Crable and Bo Ruud on injured reserve.

Offensive lineman Dan Connolly was promoted from the team's practice squad to take Woods' spot on the active roster.

Wood played in 12 games for the Patriots suffering the injury against the Pittsbugh Steelers. He started in place of injured linebacker Adalius Thomas for three straight games. Woods' finishes the 2008 season with 27 tackles and a sack. He also had 11 special teams tackles.

Connolly hasn't been much of a factor for the Patriots appearing in just four career games, all with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 6-foot-4, 313-pound lineman was originally added to New England's practice squad on September 12, 2007.
