The Patriots made a move to add some depth to their roster with the newfound cap space created by trading Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Chiefs. The team added another body to the mix by inking former New York Jets TE Chris Baker. The Patriots also re-signed one of their own, but landing offensive lineman Russ Hochstein.
The addition of Baker is a solid move to shore up a position best by injury the past few seasons. Baker joins Ben Watson and David Thomas on the active roster. The Patriots also have Colorado product Tyson DeVree on the practice squad.
By re-signing Hochstein, the Patriots retain possibly one of their best reserve linemen in the Bill Belichick era. Hochstein has started at guard, and center for the Patriots. Some thing he even has the versatility to be a tackle if they need him to play there.
