The health of Tom Brady has again taken center stage in New Englnad. This time it's not his knee, but his shoulder.

The good news is quarterback Tom Brady's surgically-repaired knee is fine. The bad news is his throwing shoulder is a bit banged up.

Brady absorbed a bone-crunching hit from Albert Haynesworth late in the Aug. 28 win at Washington and left with the team doctor by his side after attempting a few more throws. Brady hasn't said much in the aftermath of the alleged injury, but did say he'd like to play in Friday's preseason finale, "if Coach lets me."

"I'm sure he has some bumps and bruises like everybody else," said coach Bill Belichick, who claimed Brady was removed from the game because he had played his allotted amount, and not due to injury.

The coach's prototypical answer has done little to calm the fears of fans who are worried about another injury derailing Brady's progress, but those who watched should take some solace in the fact Brady appeared to be on target again with his No. 1 receiver.

Picking up where they left off during their record-setting season in 2007, Brady and Randy Moss hooked up for two touchdown passes before Brady got hurt. Brady completed 12 of 19 passes, with Moss hauling in six of them for 90 yards.

"I enjoyed it. It was good to watch," rookie wideout Terrence Nunn said. "Seeing Randy run those routes, and Brady hit him, I enjoyed it. That was great."

Considering Brady has spent the majority of his career on the injury report with a sore shoulder, it's hard to say whether this setback will be an issue heading into the season opener. What's more certain is that Brady won't make an appearance during Thursday's preseason finale.

Through practices and preseason games, Brady's mobility has looked fine and his arm appears to be in tip-top shape, as evident by his two touchdown passes to Moss. For now, fans, coaches and teammates will have to keep their fingers crossed that this "sore shoulder" is nothing more than that.

"Got a good competitive game on the road," Belichick said. "That was what we needed. And we made enough plays to win."
