The New England Patriots survived the new and improved Wildcat offense to defeat the Miami Dolphins 27 - 17. Send us your Game Balls (good things) and Goats (bad things) for today's game. Here are ours.

1) Tom Brady - With 25/37 passing for 332 yards, one TD and 1 INT, Brady had a solid day against a notoriously tough division opponent. Brady's 300 yard day was the 27th of his career, passing Drew Bledsoe for most in team history.

2) Randy Moss - 6 receptions for 147 yards and a TD. Moss made two spectacular plays, the firs a one-handed catch on the sideline setting up a Maroney TD. The other came on his 71-yard TD run using the stiff-arm to break away.

3) Offensive Line - Dealing with injuries to two starters (Light, Koppen), the team still manages to open holes for the running game and ti give Brady time to throw. Fist time in weeks there were good holes to run through.

Honorable Mentions:

Laurence Maroney - a solid day running. He lowered his head to gain additional yardage, with only a couple of plays where he hesitated. Finished 20/82 and 1 TD

Brandon McGowan - every week he brings it. Late in the game McGowan shed one blocker, avoided another and then submarined Ronnie Brown to save a TD at the one. Finished with team high 11 tackles (8 solo) and a forced fumble.

Vontae Davis - forget the interference call, or blown tackle on Moss' TD, Davis played very well for a rookie. His interception was a remarkable catch.

The Weather - What a beautiful day in Foxboro

Gillette Jumbotron guys -- Nice touch showing Joey Porter's stats then him on the sideline. Classic home town move.

1) Joey Porter - 0 for 0 for 0 Joey. There is no reason to talk smack when you get replaced by your coach for being ineffective. Bad day for Miami linebacker

2) Wildcat defense - the Patriots were slow to adjust to the Wildcat run by Pat White. The Dolphins first drive of the 3rd quarter was over 10 plays and took 10 minutes off the clock to give the Dolphins the lead.

3) Patriots third down defense - Patriots allows the Dolphins to convert 9 of their 17 third down attempts. That's over 50% people. Not good even for bad teams.

Dishonorable Mentions:

Media covering Porter - All those who ran the Porter comments as a real story. C'mon, you all should know better.
