Matthew Slater's dad Jackie was an icon in NFL circles. It's an experience he shared with his son as much by example as by words. Though Slater received interest from teams like the Giants, Jets and Jaguars, he ended in New England after the Patriots traded up to go get him. Slater is happy to be a Patriot and has plenty of fond memories growing up around NFL locker rooms.
