2004: Signed as a free agent with the Browns
on March 9, 2004, prompting the end of the Tim Couch era in Cleveland...
San Francisco 49ers (1999-2003)
2003: Missed several games due to an ankle
injury, but finished strong... Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for a
powerful performance against Arizona, where he threw for four touchdowns and ran
for two more... Finished with 2,704 yards and 18 touchdowns throwing... Also
scored seven times running the ball (career high)... Struggled against
Baltimore, throwing four interceptions.
2002: Started every game for the third
straight year... Finished with 3,344 yards and 21 TDs passing... Led five
fourth-quarter comebacks and was named to his third straight Pro Bowl... Had
career-high attempts (55) and completions (36) against Dallas, leading a
fourth-quarter comeback with three TDs in the period... Led the highest comeback
in NFL postseason history, bringing the Niners from 24 points back against the
Giants in the playoffs.
2001: Threw for 32 touchdowns, giving him
over thirty for two straight seasons... Neither Montana or Young accomplished
this feat for the Niners... Finished with 3.538 yards to go with the touchdowns,
