Biography:

How Acquired: Signed by the New England Patriots as a free agent (9/11/04)

Scouting Report: A multitalented player who plays both running back and defensive back. He has been playing in the league for over seven years and has recorded 90 career special team tackles, 37 over the past two seasons. Also used as a third-down special back as well as a kick off returner. Never fulfilled his potential as a running back that was expected of him out of Lehigh.

Pro Experience:

New England Patriots (2004)
2004:
Played 9 games as a Patriot while had 13 rushing attempts for 13 yards and 1 touchdown as a running back. He caught one pass out of the backfield for 9 yards as well as recorded 7 tackles. He registered two tackles on special teams in the AFC Championship win over the Steelers. He is expected to be released by the Patriots.

Chicago Bears (2002-03)
2003: Played 15 games and recorded 19 tackles as a defensive back. He returned 5 kicks for 62 yards at an average of 12.4 yards per return, caught 8 passes out of the backfield for 55 yards and had 18 rushing attempts while recording 37 yards. He was released by the Bears.

2002: Played all 16 games and returned a career high 182 yards on kickoffs on 9 catches. He forced a fumble and recovered an opposition's fumble. He recorded 19 total tackles on defense while playing no offense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1998-2001)
2001: Played all 16 games, had 11 rushing attempts for 40 yards and had 26 receiving yards on 2 balls caught. He ended up with 92 yards returning kicks on 5 returns, had 18 total tackles as a defensive back, and forced 2 fumbles while recovering one opposition's fumble.

2000: Played 12 games and recorded a career high 70 rushing yards on 16 rushing attempts. He also caught two balls which totaled 14 yards. He turned one kickoff for 16 yards and totaled 13 tackles.

1999: He played 15 games and recorded his only career start as a running back. He ended up with 5 rushing attempts for 12 yards. He only caught two balls for 11 yards. Totaled 11 tackles as a defensive back.

1998: Was an undrafted free agent and was signed by the Buccaneers. Did not play in any of the regular season games.

College Experience:

Lehigh (1994-1997)
Abdullah played 3 years in college and totaled 3,696 rushing yards and 33 TDs at 5.5 yards per carry. He started 32 of the 33 games played. Started 10 games as a senior but missed the rest of the original senior campaign (16) after suffering a knee injury in the first half of the opening games. He was named to the All-Conference first-team as a junior while setting school records in rushing and carries (1,536 and 257). Earned All-Conference second-team as a Sophomore.

High School Experience:

Abdullah played basketball, track, and football and manned both RB and DB positions. He earned All-State, All-County, and All-Conference honors.

Contract Status: Was resigned on 12/22/04 but the terms remain undisclosed. Is currently an unrestricted free-agent.
