How Acquired: Claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Rams on Aug. 28, 2000. Chatham was originally signed by St. Louis as a rookie free agent April 1999.
Scouting Report: Big solid backer, athletic, moves well, has nose for the ball. Works with Special teams units as a cover man, performs solid run defense. Has been a practice squad member and part of the reserve backer rotation since arriving in New England.
Personal: Born Matthew Chatham, the son of Jeff and Brenda, June 28, 1977 in Newton, Iowa. Attended Sioux City (Iowa) High where he played wide receiver and safety. Chatham earned all-state honors in both football and baseball. Went to college at South Dakota where he majored in English and Criminal Justice. Married to wife, Erin, in 2001. |
