How Acquired: Drafted by the Patriots in the 4th round of the 2002 draft,
177th overall Scouting Report: Has all the gifts of a decent quarterback,
mobile, strong arm, big and physical. Questionable decision making and touch on
his passes at times. Able to escape pressure when necessary, and difficult to
tackle. Has weight issues which may be a concern down the line. Showed up at training
camp in 2004 overweight and was assigned #73 a lineman's number (John Hannah's
old jersey number) by coach Belichick to send a message. Not enough playing experince
in the NFL to form a complete assessment. Pro Experience: New
England Patriots (2002-present) Has rarely seen the field except
in mop-up duty. Played in NFL Europe to acquire experience in 2004 leading the
Berlin Thunder to the World Bowl Championship. Davey won NFL Europe's offensive
player of the year award by leading all NFLE passers with a 105.6 passer rating
and throwing for 1,676 yards.
College Experience: LSU Led
Louisiana State to its first conference title since 1986 and earned Sugar Bowl
MVP honors in a 47-34 win over Illinois. Completed a school single-season record
217 of 367 passes (59.1 percent) for 3,347 yards and 18 touchdowns. The only QB
in school history to throw for over 300 yards in three consecutive games. Owns
the school record for most passing yards in a season (3,347). His final year,
he started every game and was a second-team All-Southeastern Conference pick. High
School Experience: Miami Lakes (Fla.) High. Davey grew up in Clarendon,
Jamaica and moved to the USA at age 8. He first played football as a sophomore
in high school.
