How Acquired: Signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on May 16, 2003. Originally signed by the New York Jets, Davis has spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs (practice squad), the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the St. Louis Rams. Re-signed by the Patriots as an UFA March 22, 2005.
Scouting Report: Don Davis UFA New England – The nine-year pro hasn’t been considered a starter over his career but he has been a pretty solid backup. Known as a smart linebacker, Davis has been able to find work with four teams mostly in nickel situations and on special teams. Davis has speed and cover skills, which have allowed him to play some at safety for New England due to injuries.
Personal: Born Donald Earl Davis Jr., December 17, 1972 in Olathe, Kansas. PLayed football, basketball and track at South High in Olathe, Kansas. Attended the University of Kansas where he majored in Human Development. Davis and wife Yannette have two daughters, Dominique and Denay. |
