How Acquired: Signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on March 6, 2001. Originally signed by the Miami Dolphins as a rookie free agent in April 1996.
Scouting Report: Izzo is the captain of the Patriots special teams, tough, physical linebacker who has led special teams his entire career. Smart, football savvy player, who can fill in when necessary. Undersized to play fulltime, Izzo runs the Patriots scout team during defensive drills in camp, typically playing quarterback. Willing to put it all out there on the field, selfless team leader.

Lawrence Alexander Izzo was born September 26, 1974 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia to Larry and Terry Izzo. Attended McCullough High in Houston lettering in football and basketball. Earned first-team all-district 15-5A honors. Recognized by the Houston Chronicle as the two-way Player of the Year Attended Rice University, graduating with a degree in business. Married to his wife Mara in 2004. |
