How Acquired: Drafted by the Patriots in the 5th round of the 2004 draft (164th overall)
Was placed on the injured reserve list in 2004 then moved to the suspended reserve list and did not travel with the team to the Superbowl
At Florida State: 2003 - Enters the season as Florida State’s starter at the split end position… second leading returning receiver behind Craphonso Thorpe from the 2002 season… 15 receptions and 173 receiving yards last year ranked second only to Thorpe among Seminole returners … hampered by a hamstring injury of the second half of last season… one of the Seminoles’ most versatile players who has caught passes, rushed out of the backfield and returned kickoffs and punts during his career… earned the offensive award for most dependable receiver following spring practice in 2002.
Sophomore Year (2002): Played in 11 of Florida State’s 14 games… one of the Seminoles most versatile players who ranked seventh in all-purpose yards and earned rushing, receiving and punt return yards for the second consecutive season… had a career-high 15 receptions for a career-high 173 yards and a career-high 15.7 yards per game average to rank sixth on the team in all three categories… slowed by a hamstring injury during the second half of the season.
Freshman Year (2001): Played in all 12 games including the victory over Virginia Tech in the Gator Bowl… was one of 12 true freshmen to earn playing time for the Seminoles… ranked sixth on the team in receiving yards (158 yards), sixth in receptions (11), fifth in average yards per reception (14.4), third in touchdowns (two) and eighth in all-purpose yards (243)… second on the team with four kickoff returns for 74 yards and four punt returns for 11 yards… joined Nick Maddox as the only two players used on both the punt return and kickoff return teams… at least one catch in eight of his 11 regular season appearances including at least one in each of the last six games … returned four kickoffs during the season with his career long return of 27 yards coming against Clemson… had three kick returns for 52 yards in the Seminoles’ Gator Bowl victory over Virginia Tech.
High School: Graduated from Buford High School in 2001… earned all-state Class A first-team honors and named the conference and county player of the year his senior season… a Super Southern selection by the Atlanta Journal Constitution… named to the All-Southern team by the Orlando Sentinel… named to Max Emfinger’s national Nifty 150… a member of the Super 75 by the Florida Times Union… was a standout receiver, free safety and punter during his outstanding prep career… caught 39 passes for 1,067 yards and seven touchdowns his senior season… averaged 27.4 yards per reception… also added two rushing touchdowns and two on kickoff returns for 13 total touchdowns during his senior season… added 91 total tackles and five interceptions from his free safety position… averaged 35.2 yards per punt as a senior… led the football team to a 13-2 record and a state runner-up finish as a junior… also a standout track performer and won state titles in the 110 and 300 meter hurdle events his senior season… also played basketball.
