Pro Experience: New England Patriots (2004 - present): Linebackers Pees managed a unit that finished 6th in run defense his first season. Pees has coached notable Patriots' players like Tedy Bruschi, Ted Johnson, Mike Vrabel and Willie McGinest, each of whom experienced notable success during the 2004 season, one marked by significant issues in the secondary. Pees was responsible for helping Vrabel to adjust when he moved to inside linebacker while Bruschi was sidelined in 2005. College Experience: Kent State (1998-2004): Pees was hired as the head coach at Kent State December 17, 1997. He turned around a program that hadn't experienced a winning season in more than a decade and had fared no better than 3-win season in more than six years. Culminating in 2001, Pees success guided the Golden Flashes to a 6-5 record. Michigan State (1995-97): Reunited with Saban in East Lansing. Pees was the defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach for the Spartans. Helped with Ike Reese's development before he turned pro. Notre Dame (1994): Spent one season working with Lou Holtz as the fighting Irish's secondary coach. Had the opportunity to work with Bobby Taylor who was part of the Irish's program. University of Toledo, (1990-93): First job under Nick Saban , Pees was the defensive coordinator for Toledo. US Naval Academy (1987-89): Pees also served as the middies secondary coach. Miami (Ohio) University (1983-86): Performed the same duties a at Findlay as a defensive coordinator and secondary coach. University of Findlay (1979-1982): Defensive coordinator and secondary coach for the University of Findlay for three seasons.
