Signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on May 8, 2006.
Career:
Loyd, 25, has been a member of the St. Louis Rams (2003-05) on and off since being released by the Cleveland Browns in 2003. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound defender has appeared in 14 games over his three seasons in the league, managing 10 special teams tackles. Listed as an inside linebacker, Loyd has been mostly a special teams participant over his career.
Originally signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted rookie free agent on June 2, 2003, Loyd was released by Cleveland after training camp and signed by the Rams where he joined their practice squad. (Sept. 10, 2003).
After playing in 10 games his rookie season, Loyd missed the entire 2004 season on injured reserve. The Rams released him following their 2005 training camp (Aug. 31, 2005). He rejoined the team later in the2005 season and managed four tackles in the final four games.
