| Biography: |
Cooper was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent on April 28th, 2003. He signed a five-year extension prior to the 2006 season.
2007
As a first year starter, Cooper led the Chargers in total tackles (108) and in postseason tackles (30). He flourished under the direction of inside linebackers coach Ron Rivera formerly with the Chicago Bears. Cooper also registered a pair of sacks and two interceptions.
2006
Started four games and finished with career highs in tackles (53) and sacks (2.5). Cooper also played some outside linebacker when that spot was thinned by injuries.
2005
Started two games and finished with 39 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
2004
Cooper saw action in every game and his role increased with the team. He netted 41 tackles on the year with one fumble recovery.
2003
Cooper got more and more playing time as the season wore on. Initially just a special teams player, Cooper made some plays in pass coverage and got his first interception of his career -- off Brett Favre. He also recorded a sack as a rookie.
College
Four year starter who led the team in tackles every season since his sophomore campaign. All-Conference and All-America selection last year, named Atlantic Ten Defensive Player of the Year. Totaled 121/21/9.5/3/4. All-Conference as a junior, sharing honors as A-Ten Defensive Player of the Year with numbers of 95/18/5/2/4. |
