How Acquired: signed as an unrestricted free agent by the New England Patriots on March 11, 2009.

New England Patriots:
2009: Signed a three year $10.5 million deal worth up to $13 million wiith incentives.

Washington Redskins:
2008:
Played in just 9 games (7 starts) for the Redskins. Released Feb 27th, 2009.

2007: Appeared in 16 games recording 62 tackles (57 solo), 15 passes defended and four interceptions.

2006: Springs sustained a myriad of injuries in 2006, limiting him to nine games with eight starts. He recorded 44 tackles (36 solo), one interception and one forced fumble. He was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 26 with a fractured clavicle.

2005: For the second consecutive year in Washington, Springs played in and started 15 games. He also played in the Redskins' Divisional Playoff game at Seattle. For the season, Springs logged 51 tackles (45 solo) and one interception for a 2-yard return.

2004: Signed as a free agent from the Seattle Seahawks on March 4, 2004. Springs played in and started 15 games. He finished the season as the team leader in sacks with six and interceptions with five. He was named a third alternate to the Pro Bowl. He logged 89 tackles (56 solo).

2003:
Springs played in 12 regular season games, starting eight, and started NFC Wild Card game at Green Bay. He posted his first career sack (vs. Cleveland (11/30) and finished the season with 39 tackles (34 solo), 1.5 sacks, one interception and four special teams tackles.

2002: Springs tied for the team-lead with 12 passes defensed, 59 tackles and three interceptions.

2001: Springs played in a total of eight games, starting seven. He missed the first three games with hamstring injury, but returned to start the next seven games at the left cornerback position.

2000: Springs started all 16 games setting career highs in tackles (85) and solo tackles (72). His 85 tackles were fifth best on the Seahawks during the season. He also recorded two interceptions for eight yards and forced one fumble.

1999: Springs started all 16 games at cornerback earning Sports Illustrated All-Pro Team, College & Pro Football Newsweekly All-Pro Team, Football News All-AFC Team honors.

1998: Springs started all 16 games at cornerback. He was voted to the AFC Pro Bowl squad and finished fourth in the AFC with seven interceptions.

1997: Springs was selected with the third overall pick in the 1997 draft. He started ten games at right cornerback. He missed six games with a broken right thumb.

College: Springs started all 37 games over his final three seasons after redshirting in 1993. He was a first-team All-Big 10 Conference as a sophomore and junior and an All-conference all-academic pick.

He was also Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 1996 as selected by the conference. He finished that season with 39 tackles and a team-leading 15 passes defensed.

He finished his career with 152 tackles, six interceptions and five tackles for loss. He averaged 25.2 yards on 20 kickoff returns with one touchdown and 9.5 yards on 27 punt returns.
