| WR Joey Galloway: Will Miss His Second Game by Site Staff of PatriotsInsider.com, October 11, 2009 at 9:42am ET Joey Galloway Profile WR Joey Galloway reportedly did not make the trip to Denver for the Patriots' week five matchup against the Broncos. It is the second week in a row Galloway will not play as a a "healthy scratch." According an ESPN report, Galloway is just going through the trials of players in the New England organzation. An unnamed Patriots source explained the move to make the veteran inactive. "I think he will be OK," the source said. "This is just part of the Patriot maturation process." The CBA rules provide protection for veterans with a certain number of years experience in the league. If those "vested" veterans are on the opening day roster, their contract is guaranteed for the season. Galloway signed a one-year deal that pays him $1.15 million in 2009. He also received a $600K signing bonus. Unless the team needs space on the 53-man roster, expect Galloway to remain a member of the Patriots. Things could get interesting for the veteran ofter week 6 when WR Brandon Tate and OT Mark LeVoir are eligible to return. The team will need to clear spots for them and Galloway -- if he hasn't "gotten it" by then -- could be on the way out. |
